The title is translated as the "Principles of harmony and contrast of colors." One of the earliest published theories of colors and "simultaneous color contrast," and color perception; greatly influenced artists and the way they used color.

Condition and Treatment: 

The boards are abraded and the corners delaminated and damaged. There is also damage to the bottom center of the front and back boards. The spine is detached, split in half and has areas of loss. The text block has foxing to the first few pages and there are unopened sections. The spine is missing and the crash on the spine is beginning to split.
