This oblong folio consists of 138 engravings by Pietro Santi Bartoli and Giacomo Lauro ⁠—illustrating the palazzi, churches, monuments, arenas, statues, and public scenes of Rome in the 17th century with explanatory text. Originally engraved by Lauro for a 1637 publication, the plates were adapted by Santi Bartoli who added 16 more to make up this set.

Condition and Treatment: 

Stiff vellum binding. Four of five sewing cords broken at upper hinge. Endband at foot of text-block missing. Spine covering detached. First section of text-block loose.  Conservators will reinforce folio and re-attach first section of text-block. Re-back with aero linen and re-attach spine covering.
