Wendingen: maandblad voor bouwen en sieren

Santpoort [etc.]: C. A. Mees [etc.], 1925-1926.

Wendingen (Dutch: Inversions or Upheaval) was an art magazine that appeared from 1918-1932. It was a monthly publication aimed at architects and interior designers, but attention was also given to art and design. The magazine gained recognition not only through its content, but also by its remarkable square format, the striking typography, and beautiful covers.

In 1925-1926, seven issues were devoted to the up until then life's work of Frank Lloyd Wright. The use of bold red and black graphics are the distinctive features in the covers designed by him. This cover, one of several created by Wright, is one of the first European publications to promote and document the work of an American designer.

Vol. 7, No. 3 (1925) has special title: "The life-work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright," colored lithograph cover by Frank Lloyd Wright.
